OARRS Reporting
What is OARRS?
All prescription drug purchases in Ohio are tracked and regulated through a platform called, OARRS. The Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS) is a tool that tracks the dispensing and personal furnishing of controlled prescription drugs to Ohio patients. In Ohio, Medical Marijuana is treated like any other prescription drug.
When a patient receives their medical marijuana referral, they are required to make an OARRS account. All patients have access to their own personal accounts which are covered under HIPPA Law (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
Remember: According to Federal Law, Medical Marijuana is a considered a controlled substance similar to Vicodin and narcotics. Every medical marijuana purchase you make is tracked through OARRS, where your account is HIPAA compliant.
OARRS is designed to monitor this information for suspected abuse or diversion (i.e., channeling drugs into illegal use), and can give a prescriber or pharmacist critical information regarding a patient’s controlled substance prescription history. Be as responsible in your use of cannabis as you would with any other medication.
